October 4th is the feast of St. Francis, and Also many churches will have a
blessing of the pets on either Saturday, or Sunday. Does anyone here bring their pets for this blessing. I will on Saturday, maybe, to stop barking!

Thank you SO much for posting a reminder about this! ...I was just talking to my brother the other day about it...
I've been bringing my dogs, cats, and every other little creature since I was a kid.

Good luck on the barking...

In my original hometown of Denver, they had the Blessing of the Animals at the Episcopal cathedral every October. I brought my dog a couple of times; the last time we went, there was an elephant there.

We used to do it back home in Wisconsin all the time! We dont do it here in Virginia. I think there is one church in the area that does it, not sure of the other ones. I'd love to have my dog blessed but we'll be out of town this weekend...boo hoo!

I am wondering if anyone knows of a blessing of the animals other than the feast of St. Francis? I have a dog that needs a good blessing in Pittsburgh PA.

NO. The churches (Episcopal/Anglican and Catholic) that offer it do so to honor the feast day of St. Francis in October. It's not just a random thing.

I did this once with my GSD, and it was a wonderful experience. There were so amny animals in the pews and so many different kinds (cats, dogs, mice, iguanas among others) that I was really surprised at how well everyone got along.
I highly recommend the experience, at least once, for any pet (:
