I'm at my Grandma's house this week. Her neighbors used to have a male pit bull-type dog tied up out in the yard. He disappeared. They also have two tom cats and recently introduced a female calico (who is probably not spayed). Anyway, now they have a female beagle tied up. Apparently she doesn't have a name, even though they have had her for weeks.

My uncle has been working on the house here and he's gotten attached to the beagle. He named her. The owners were planning to take her back to the pound. So my uncle is going to take her.

I feel bad for the dog. She's tied up there with nothing for shelter other than a couple of bushes. Any time I go over there to pet her she rolls over on her back and wants her belly rubbed. I checked on her today and she seems to have a cough/nose thing going on. No wonder being stuck out in the rain the past couple of days. In my experience usually that can be cleared up with antibiotics.

I'm glad my uncle is taking her. He can provide her a good home and it would certainly be better than what she has.

Why do people get dogs on a trial basis? Shouldn't you try harder to make it work? Some people just seem to think that you rent dogs rather than own them.

I AM SO glad your uncle's taking her!

I don't think people understand that dogs need companionship and training.

When is your uncle going to untie her and take her home?

I'd like to hear that this is going to happen today...

I'm not sure when. Soon, I'm sure.

My uncle and his significant other have a male lab (neutered), so it may good for the two dogs to have each other.

That is one lucky beagle being saved from owners that are inadequate to say the least.

Horray for happy stories! I don't know why people get dogs and chain them up and leave them outside.

I tie my dogs for their safety.

If not they would be GONE and on the roads.

They are hunters and they will hunt.

Your uncle rocks! That is so sad. I really hate people sometimes.

It's not so much that she is outside. I can deal with that. She doesn't seem to have adequate shelter and she rarely gets attention. They didn't even name her.
