I just finished giving my Shepherd a bath, and I gotta say, it is unbelievable how he responds to taking a bath.
Many dogs run at the sight of water, and I have to admit, Bobby did when he was first introduced to the tub a couple of years ago.
He really does not like water being poured on him, be it from the garden hose, or rain falling.
When ever he saw me filling the tub, he would run outside and hide under the deck.
I would have to coax him out, put his collar on, and lead him to the tub.
Once in, he was fine.
Well, for the last three times I have given him a bath, he has been really good about it.
Now remember, this is a dog that definitely does not like water.
Today, as usual, when he saw me filling up the tub, he headed for the back yard.
When it was time for him to come in, all I said was, "Bobby it's time for your bath".
With that he ran into the house, headed for the bathroom, and without my assistance, he climbed into the tub on his own.
I gave him a big hug, and preceded to give his bath.
All through it, he just sat there so quiet, and seemingly understanding just what was expected of him.
I have to say he really surprised me today, and it was actually fun giving him a bath today.
You could have knocked me over with a feather when he climbed into the tub on his own.
He never ceases to amaze me.

Here he is drying off in the sun.

Bob.

Awwww... what a good looking boy!

I just gave my boy a bath yesterday too... and boy does he not like it.
Had to close two doors to keep him in. Yikes!

But he does smell better after though.

Had to put Advantage II on him, good for the winter months, hence the bath.

Pretty boy! Your post gives me hope! I just rescued a dog a few weeks ago and promptly gave him a much needed bath. He hated every second of it, and now he won't even go near the bathroom.

Weird and surprising is that my smooth collie jumps into the pool to avoid getting her bath.

Wtf?

Gorgeous dog, btw.
