We went for a run tonight and on our run we met our neighbor who has the a very calm 10 month old boxer mix that cody loves.
We stopped so the dogs could play and say hi and then started running again. They let their dog go ....and us, our neighbor and our dogs ran together for about a block ...dogs were running w/ dragging leashes ...it was so funny. Then a car came and Andy called Cody to him and he ran to Andy and sat while the car passed ...which rocks.
so then we let cody just run beside us(leash dragging) the whole way home and he did great. He saw a cat and Andy said "stay w/ me" and Cody looked at him and stayed w/ us. If he got ahead of us we just say "hey Cody stay w/ us" and he slows down. I've been working on this for weeks w/ treats ...guess it's paying off. We go for long walks and at the end i let the leash down and when he's w/ me he gets treats and when he responds to stay w/ me, he gets treats(it's a long leash)
I found out some of the neighbors and their dogs meet up in the evenings at the dried out water ditch and let the dogs run together.
We might check it out, but all the dogs are very big.
just had to share because for cody to be called off something is a huge deal for us and Cody staying w/ us is huge since he is so movement driven.
I'm very proud of my boy.
AND NO TRASH DIGGING TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I redirected his attention.
