Chattering Teeth (lab, black, food, outside)

Well, this is the first winter weather with our Yellow Dog. Her teeth chatter when it is cold and she is excited. She is a senior and has a lot of flattened teeth, strangely more than any other dog I have had even ones living to 14 years old plus. It just makes me wonder how old she really is sometimes. Is this common? She just does it for like a second when she comes in from outside while she is doing the happy dance to see us again. Actually, if she out for 2 minutes................maybe she has a weak concept of time or we are just so darn wonderful that 2 minutes away from us seems like an eternity.

I had an old black lab who would chatter his teeth when he was excited - especially when the food bucket came out and I was fixing their breakfast or dinner. The first time I head it I had no idea what the sound was. Worried me a bit until I figured out it was just excitement. When I mentioned it to friends several of them told me of other dogs who do this.

Yes, I think that Twooooo Whole Minutes is a long time to be away from your person you love. My dogs certainly make me feel that they can hardly stand it when I walk out to the car to get something and come right back in. Even though they can see me the whole time.
