my 6 month old Bichon Frise puppy has stopped eating......
Till 3 days ago he was eating normally and now all of a sudden he does not want the food. He eats a little and then walks away.

I find his nose is also dry. Are the two connected?

How do I find out what is wrong?

Concerned Bichon Owner

1st a vet check is on order! At 6 months teathing could be the the problem BUT most dogs Teetheing Chew More not less. 2nd IF the vet rules out medical problem Perhaps a change in Diet is on order? There are other things But you Really need to take him to the Vet!

Vet. Now. I'm betting he's eaten something and possibly something stuck in the gut. He's a puppy - they eat all kinds of things. But it's extremely dangerous and you could potentially lose your pup. A 6-month-old anything that doesn't eat....well there's something seriously wrong. At the very least if there is nothing wrong you will set your mind at ease.

One thing you might do is run your finger inside the dog's mouth especially up on the roof - sometimes they will get something stuck crossways in their mouth or if he's been chewing on sticks he could have a splinter.

Don't worry about the dry nose...is he drinking water? He could be getting dehydrated.

Vet time.

let us know how he's doing as we care. I had a bichon for 16 years and now another for 11. They are so incredibly wonderful. Please get him to a vet today. This can't wait.

I have a bichon and he is the pickiest eater in the world. My dog does this ALL the time- one day he LOVES something and the next day he won't even sniff it (even people food..). Sometimes he just refuses to eat if he doesn't feel like it. It took me almost a full year to find a somewhat acceptable kibble for him that he will at least pick at...Hopefully your bichon is better than mine! But hopefully nothing is wrong with him either!

How was the Vet visit? I hope it's ok.

Our little baby BICHON (6years) is finicky. He has gone without eating for a day until I realized that he preferred softer food. I pour a few ounces of water into his dry food and he will eat it almost immediately.
