We have a 4 year old pit mix (female, UTD on shots, spayed). She seems in fine health. But one thing I am concerned about is now when she drinks a lot of water, she vomits. Its just mucous and water. It is when she drinks a lot, like after a walk in the heat, a big play session or when she is really excited...when she is really thirsty.
She eats fine. She looks good. Her skin/fur is a little dry. She dosent vomit any other time. But it does happen at least once a day. its been going on 3 or 4 months.
She isn't due for a vet check up for 4 more months. Does it sound alarming? I don't like to "over-vet" my dogs so I try not to take them in if its nothing serious.
It sounds like she's hot and drinking the water too fast. I don't think it's anything to worry about. Maybe let her have a drink and then pick the water up for 10 minutes or so and then put it back down after she has cooled down some. I'd mention it to the vet when you take her in but I don't think it requires a special trip if the only time it's happening is right after she exercises a lot.
Limit the water, lots of small amounts until she is through. Don't let her drink an entire bowl when she is hot and dry.
When walking hot horses, the horse is allowed 3 "go downs" , that's swallows, and is then walked around for a few more minutes and then anther 3 go-downs. After the horse is cooled, he can have as much as he wants. Your dog is drinking too much volume when she is too hot.

I have friend with a chocolate lab that gulps water and throws up after wards so they can only let her have small amounts at a time.
Excellent advice already posted...only thing I can add is my old Lab and Frenchie will do this if the water is too cold AND they drink too much too fast.
