Here's the situation. I need a DVD of animals running. We have two hound dogs that need to run and the dog park is not doing it. We thought of getting a luring machine but they're too expensive. We thought of joining the SoCal Hound group for their luring course, but they meet a few times a year. So that doesn't help.

They have had the experience of going through the luring course, once. They did very well and really enjoyed it. When we watch documentaries of animals and they're running, both dogs try to chase them. We have to hold them back. So that gave me an idea.

We bought a dog runner that will keep up with their speed. We purchased a used 32" LCD TV ($75.). We have an old DVD player. Now all we need is a DVD of animals running...... any thoughts?

We checked Amazon. We Googled and Binged almost every phrase for "chasing animals dvd" and so on. ZERO results.

Every suggestion is much appreciated.

Can't think of any DVDs of niml running. What type of hounds do you have?

I own a silken windhound ( sight hound) and where he does the most running is the beach. We have a nice leash free beach and when I take him he loves to just zoom all over the beach. The dog park he will do some but not alot of running so when there I make him run by having someone hold his collar while I walk away and I go to the other end of the park and call him several times before the person lets him go and he zooms full speed to me so doing it a few times gives him a nice work out similar to what they get if you straight race them. I would love to have some lure coursing nearby but since there is none this is how he gets his running in.

GoPro on dog's back - YouTube

Maybe this^^ will perk them up. I fixed a camera to a backpack and hit a tennis ball for him to chase. I also did our 3 legged Lab, but haven't posted it yet.

Okay, I'm grinning my face off! That's just every sort of fabulous! I felt like I was sitting on his back, along for the ride, peeking between his ears to our destination.

WHAT FUN!!!!!

First, we're you in the Pet Expo in the OC? We saw the booth in one of the pavilions.

Second, Portuguese Podengo Pequenos!

We live in LA. We have plenty of dog parks. The male is great with that environment. He's social and loves to run with the other dogs. The female.... she doesn't want to run around with the other dogs. She's social and active with the other dogs, but, I have noticed that she'd rather stay by my side than chase the other dogs with the our male. The beach.... it takes too long to get there and it's LA! They must be on the leash

Her chase instincts are still intact! She loves squirrels and skunks!

I just wanted to give her another outlet so she can enhance her chase instinct and to keep her tight and fit!

Thank you.

HAHAHA Too Cute!

Unfortunately, she just tilted her head and continued chewing her bone. She was more fascinated with the sound than the video. I turned the sound off. No interest. The visual had no effect.

Thank you so much for your efforts! I look forward to see the other video!

Thank you very much! I got a great laugh at her expense!
