Our little Teddy is now 12 weeks old and as stinking cute as ever. He has pretty much doubled in size, from 7.5# to 13.1# in a month. Those lieelt stumpy puppy legs are getting long and straight, and his feet are getting bigger.

But his front paws are noticeably bigger than his rear ones. Is this normal? I guess I never noticed this sort of thing on puppies before.

From what I've seen, it is very common for front paws to be slightly larger than back paws. One explanation I've heard is that the front end bears more weight. ?

Looking at Vito, who at probably 3 yrs, give or take a couple of months, his feet all look about the same size. But that makes sense that the front would be a bit larger to bear more weight.

He may grow into them more.

But, you know. Can't tell without pics.

You just made me go look at my dogs' feet.

The Rottweiler's front feet do seem a bit wider, actually. The other two dogs' feet look similar front and rear; in fact their rear feet (standing) look more elongated and not as tight as the fronts.

But growing puppies go through so many weird stages: sometimes the rump is higher than the withers, two weeks later that's reversed, ears go completely wonky during teething, head a funny shape, odd-looking coat, legs are going all over the place.

I agree though, we need more pictures!

My beagle basset has significantly bigger feet in the front than the back. I just checked.

I just googled this. There are many people wondering about it, and there even more people confirming their dogs have bigger front paws.

Thanks Coach! I was beginning to wonder, especially since little Teddy is pretty bowlegged. His legs seem to be straightening out as they grow longer, but a month ago you could have driven a train through his hind legs!

Wow, thanks for all the encouraging responses, folks!! I will try to get more pics. I'm gardening today, leaving the dogs alone in the living room for an hour at a time. This is my version of living dangerously.

Different size paws???? Teddy is a freak!!! You don't want that sort of monstrosity in your house. You'd best ship him to me. You're welcome.
