Just curious, but what's your lower range of what you consider to be a big dog? This can be in terms of weight, or however else you usually judge it.

Weight is tricky because 2 dogs can be the same weight and one just looks bigger because of its build. But I guess I'd say 60 lbs +.

Both of my dogs are 50lbs but Chaos I consider a medium dog and Dazzle a big dog as Dazzle is tall and long he just has that thin sight hound build but I do consider him a Big dog so for me it is not so much weight as it height and length.

Yeah that was the number that popped into my head too. Our small dog is 50 and she is in fact a small dog to me.

Well, Karma is 55 pounds and I consider her a big dog. I can't get her to stand still to measure her, but she's lean, solid muscle, and bigger than Jimmy and Hallie were, and I always considered them to be big dogs. Karma is certainly a long doggie when she rolls over and stretches out. She more than spans the width of our queen-sized bed. Fortunately, she chooses not to sleep on the bed. She just visits, stretches, and leaves.

I do agree, it's more about the height and length. It makes it harder to answer the question that way! I guess if a dog comes up to give me a hug and the head is chest level, it's a big dog. But I'm not that tall. For some people, that would make it a REALLY big dog.

Sam was a Basset Corgi mix, a very large, long, low to the ground dog, weighing in at 85 pounds. He was a big dog, but fooled people, because he was so low to the ground.

I am tall and Dazzle's head fits right under my hand if I put my arm down. I actually love his height as I can give him an ear scratch as we walk and when training it made it easy to give a treat too. There is a toddler that is his biggest fan and he is taller then her ( when he is on all 4's) She is so cute as she hugs him saying his name over and over and over. Her mom said they saw a car like mine when they went to the store and the little girl got all excited and was pointing at the car saying "Dazzle". His very sweet temperament and mild gentle nature make him a great dog for Toddlers to hug and love on and he does eat it up as snuggling is his specialty

The bark. If it's not high-pitched annoying yaps, the dog is welcomed to my pack as a big dog.
