unfortunately this is what many puppy mill breeders look like. Some have never been out of cages, are deformed from lack of space and lack of exercise and are matted and covered in their own feces. We need to get the message out. Those of you with Facebook should post this picture.

Count me in. I'll post it to my FB page...

So very, very sad. No animal deserves to go through that, EVER!

I read this book a few years ago. The author does wonderful work on educating people about the horrors of puppy mills.

My cardinal rule.

When buying a puppy (assuming one is not adopting) always, always, always visit the kennel and meet at least the mother if not the father as well (assuming the latter is possible). Anyone not willing to let me do this will never get any business from me. That essentially eliminates all pet stores.

Thanks for posting this.

Many people do not know about the horrors of pet shop dogs.

Unfortunately, groomers see dogs that look just like this...usually before they decide to take the dog to the Vet and are embarrassed to let the Vet see the condition they keep it in... and they are family pets living in someone's home. Happens too often.

Here is why I can't post the picture. That's a Chinese Crested, right? I have two friends who have them -- love the breed -- and I swear, their dogs look just like that! You have no idea how hard it is to see the photos they post and feel obligated to say how cute they are. Gah, I do not like those dogs!
