This is the most sickening thing I have heard of in ages. TWO HOURS??? How could somebody be so ignorant and careless. It doesn't matter than it was 77. It was sunny and high heat was predicted. Sick Sick Sick and yes criminal.
Not sick...just very sad. Sad that a beautiful animal died needlessly, and sad that his owner must be going through a great deal of anguish, and regret, and guilt over her tragic mistake...and it was a mistake..a bad one..but it happens every year, not just for dogs but for many infants and children as well...and not just to irresponsible uncaring people, but also to very responsible caring people......
to err is human, to forgive divine.
I am astonished, really astonished, that someone who was tasked to care for a dog and apparently had previous experience, let this happen. Isn't this dog (or child) care 101 and common sense?
I have no sympathy and think the Cunninghams should be charged to the fullest extent of the law. "Misdemeanor" my a$$. It wasn't a "mistake." It was, well, I don't know...criminal negligence?
Responsible, caring people do not let this sort of thing happen. If they do, they are clearly neither responsible nor caring. Anyone who lets this happen should not be allowed to own a house plant, never mind a child or pet.
I could post a link to a minister of a church who made this "mistake"...Do you think the owner wanted her dog to die? Do you think that she did it on purpose?..Would you have thought her "responsible" before this horrendous mistake? Obviously she IS seen as responsible and caring...by a lot of people.
It's a mistake..not negligence...had it been a child you're right..she might have been facing those charges, but after the lawyers got their take, and all was said and done..almost a given that it would be found to be just another horrendous mistake...we humans are good at those.
Every single time I hear about a story like this, it makes me sick to my stomach. Especially because there are always statements in those stories about how loved those animals were, how bonded those trainers/owners were. But, I get that some things can be accidents. However, I just cannot comprehend it. I can't think of one situation where I could accidentally do that...and for that matter, one situation that explains why those in the news do that. What a horrible way to die.
