LOL. That is so funny and cute. My little pup has no problem going up the stairs, its coming down that's the problem.

OMG I loved this video!

I had basenji's for years and they are certainly a bit on the...ummm...neurotic side, lol. They definitely have their quirks.

The best part was his little friend waiting for him at the top of the stairs, and when he finally made it up, off they went to play!

I WILL have basenjis in my life again someday.

Just a guess, but I'll bet he/she slipped on those wooden stairs with no traction pads of any type and it's made the dog afraid.
