Dogs are intuitive and smart. One of my daughters dated a guy 3 years ago and our 10 yo overly friendly to everyone dog wouldn't have a thing to do with him, our new puppy ran and hid and wouldn't look at him and his demeanor changed to depressed when the guy was around. After she ditched him she told me he was somewhat abusive towards her. She is with a wonderful man now and my current dog loves him (almost more than me!)

The dog is smart alright but the parents were even smarter to be aware that something was wrong and to take action all based on their trust of their dog. Great story.

I have always found that my dogs are excellent judges of character. If they don't trust someone, neither do I. It has always worked out for me.
