This is terrific. if a hospital can allow a dog in the operating room I don't see why some schools won't allow service dogs in classrooms.

and if nothing else that little girl probably felt MUCH more at ease knowing her best frined could be there as she whent under and would be there when she came back round.

This was a specialized situation, with the dog trained for a specific task. I am not sure that this will make all surgical suites open to service dogs.

Example: if you are blind, and on a surgical gurney, pushed into a surgical suite, and on anesthesia, what reason or justification is there for the prescience of the dog? The person is immobilized, not walking, does not need guide dog for any functional purpose.
