There are times when my little Chihuahua while nestled on my arm and chest will tremble. She's certainly not cold and quite comfortable.
Why?
And is there anything I should do about it?

Most small dogs are that way , Chihuahua are notorious for it.
There is a book called the dog whisperer, you might consult for more in-depth knowledge .
Normal Dog life is interrupted by making them pets and domesticating them and culturing them.
So it stands to reason that there will be odd behavior in these animals.
I have small dogs and well as large ones all my life ,both are loving both have their own character strength, and weaknesses.
Learn some history on your breed of dog , it may be a clue for you.
I am told they were hunted as food . not sure if it is true or not. but might explain the trebling nature of them.

when Lady-bug [pap] does shivers I distract her with a game of fetch. Gets rid of the energy & does not encourage her to keep shivering LOL People don't treat little dogs to burn energy they carry them too much ... so that high energy turns to shivers.

It's endemic to chihuahas. Unless the dog is having seizures, I wouldn't worry.

Thanks to all for the information.
Now, if I could just get her to change her diet from Beniful to something non-dry with more meat in it.

you may consider keeping her on a dry food diet, but look into a better brand. Dry and crunchy is better for teeth! You can always add a bit of meat if you want. But probably not necessary really.

dualie, dry is actually not better for the teeth...its an old myth...
dogs arnt designed to "grind" as is required by kibble, so instead they crunch it between back teeth shaped like jagged mountains and the crumbs get stuck in the ridges which leads to plaque and decay.
however wet food isn't any better.
the ONLY food that's truly "good for the teeth" is NATURAL raw meat and bones...
I do agree switching her to any food is beter than baneful, lol.
most small breeds love wet food and prefer it....

Regarding giving dogs bones....
I just saw Dr. Oz show yesterday & he even said he gives his dog bones...just not Chicken bones & he was told ALL bones aren't good for dogs. Buy them teething / denture treats instead.
Blue brand food is good, if your dog likes it softer...add a little of Hot Water & let it soak in a little bit before putting the food bowl down...more nutrition for your buck than wet food that has such a high water content & don't we pay too much for water when buying ourselves bottled water too....save a buck try the dry ....and add your own water from your faucet!

on the trembling aspect its a breed trait...if the dog is not cold, and the trembling is just that its typically a result of their high metabolism.
however they will also tremble when excited or scared also...
I gues all that energy In such a tiny package its gotta go somewhere lol
