This is probably not her because the ad says "he" but it's for an 8 year old golden retriever in Oxnard. I thought I'd post just in case, since strangers seem to have been involved and may not have even known if Sophie was a boy or a girl.

Golden Retriever

The ad was posted 25 days ago so the timing would be right.

Magnatomicflux....Thank you so much....I have told my daughter the many ideas..And the thread I made in the Ventura Co. section has resulted in a few more tips, including the name of the largest shelter. I so appreciate everyone's helpful ideas and sentiments...I will keep it posted as things develop...And, truly, it has given me a bit of hope having such good ideas shared....
If someone could instruct me, I would like to post a pic of Sophie and me.
I was able to post a pic of Sophie and me on my last visit...it is on my profile page...Maybe it will help...I so appreciate the helpful suggestions, and the kind words..Thank you all!

Also, while money is tight, would offer a reward, $$ motivates. Contact Golden Retr. rescue(s) too, they may have gotten her in, unaware of the circumstances (or they may get her in)

MissTerri...No, that poor dog isn't Sophie...But, I did send the link to my daughter...as it does have links at top of page and may be helpful to her to start looking on Craigs list. I appreciate it so much! Thank you for the kindness and thoughtfulness!

I would send notices to all local vet practices as well. They should be on alert for a "new golden" that just joined the family. Local rescues may be able to help as well

My daughter also placed a couple of adds regarding this situation on Craig's list yesterday for the area. Hoping...

Oh my gosh, this is heartbreaking.

When my ex and I broke up our dog was caught in the middle. At the time, I was between homes so I sent my dog back home with my parents. First, he tried to sue me for the dog that was legally mine (I adopted him with paperwork from the shelter, all the vet paperwork and receipts had my name on them, the dog was registered to me, etc) but when it was thrown out he resorted to something crazy. The relationship was borderline abusive so I guess he couldn't stand the thought of "losing" so he actually drove up to my parents house 300 miles away and attempted to break into the house and steal the dog! Somehow, he thought he could just walk into the house in the middle of the day and take the dog. Fortunately, at the time, my brother was home and the ex was in for a sore surprise.

I certainly hope you find Sophie. You and your family (and Sophie!) are in my prayers.

Thank you Kateaboo...I am sorry that you went through that.
My daughter has been through a real bad situation...but has had much fortune in many kind people that recognized and helped.

We have been quite worried about Sophie, that is why the diligence in trying to find out if indeed Sophie had gone to his Mom.
It hurts to find out that we were right in what we were worried about all along, it was a lie.

But, my daughter is taking the tips and suggestions, and has also put adds in yesterday detailing some of what may have happened hoping whomever has Sophie will see it. She also is contacting the shelters, some a second time now that we know for certain that Sophie isn't really at his Mom's.

I do appreciate the prayers...Thank you for your response, as well as the other kind folks who've taken the time to do so. ...I will update as I can....fingers crossed.

Does your ex SIL talk to the kids on the phone? Perhaps they can ask him where she is? It seems like it would be more difficult for him to lie to them. Just a thought.
