MissTerri...My daughter has been contacted by a cousin of her Ex...The cousin is doing some PI today...and asking the Ex's Mom....about any plans for Sophie....Hoping to know at least something. At this point we all would settle for just knowing that Sophie is safe and loved..

Start a facebook thread - ask the local rescue groups to share in addition to your friends (and ask a rescue group person to help you craft the message maybe). Those things spread like wildfire among my dog friends. Give as many details as possible, and provide a good photo.
I'm sorry. Is this man the father of your grandchildren? I don't see how anyone could let something happen to their children's pet!
I hope you find Sophie!

That is actually a very good idea...I'll copy your msg and send to my daughter....She'll have the pics and more know how. Thanks for the suggestion. Sh did post something among her friends....that is how the cousin of the EX got in touch w/ my daughter. And, yes, he is the father. I know...I honestly don't think he would voluntarily allow any harm to Sophie...but, not knowing for sure...and finding out he lied about having sent Sophie to his Mom...at least til Cousin confirms...is awful. Sophie is 8 yrs old....my youngest Grandson is 13....So hard on kids. Thanks again Jrz!!

Update...The results of the Ex's cousin going to ask his Mom (lives in Wisc.) about Sophie is: Mom told cousin that she knows where Sophie is...and will not tell...And to tell my daughter to quit being a drama queen....Nice family Huh
So...Daughter has now called police who are doing a wellness check on Sophie....Police went to house 3 weeks ago...the girlfriend told them dog was shipped to Mom in Wisc. which was obviously a lie...Guess we'll see what happens... Nice family

Wow, that is messed up. You would think that your ex sil's mother could at least be thinking about her grandchildren who miss their dog. It's crazy that your ex sil and his mom planned to do this. They are being selfish and mean.

Updates....A cousin of my daughter's EX offered to go to the Mom's house, where Sophie was supposedly flown to from Calif. to Wisconsin...and while there asked about Sophie....She relayed that she knew where Sophie was, wasn't going to say....and that my daughter needed to quit being a drama queen. Nice GrandMa....
I am putting more pics...of Sophie on my profile page, and in a profile album. I'll post what my daughters ads say next post.
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated. Sophie is in or near Oxnard Calif....
We have called all shelters, talked to vets in the area...posted signage with these pics, Craigs list w/ reward offered and
even had a relative go directly to the EX's Moms in Wisconsin.....where Sophie was supposedly flown. My daughter called the police back late afternoon....Th same officers that went to the house.....were going back....now knowing that they'd been lied to.....Hoping I'll hear this am that at least we know Sophie is safe....Thanks for all the ideas and kindnesses...I'll post more later this am....

These people are absolutely horrible human beings. How can you do this to your children and grandchildren just because you have a perceived problem with their mother? This is disgusting and depraved behavior.
