My 11 year old spayed Akita has started showing the same symptoms almost every morning; waking early, coming to my side of the bed, panting heavily and trembling. Every day this happens I get up with her and we go outside (4:30am today). She's extremely clingy and doesn't want me to go to work, but after several hours she is fine. She does seem to drink a lot of water and she will eat, although stops about half way through. If I hold her bowl, she will finish. It has been happening almost every day and has nothing to do with heat. Our temps are very cool at night, and her nose is only slightly warm.
Take your dog to a vet- your dog is sick. I can think of half a dozen things that could be wrong, heart, kidneys, severe pain and a host of others, but I'm not going to speculate.
You have a dog that is old for its breed and is in very obvious distress. It's not going to go away, it will only get worse. The dog needs medical care. If you care about your pet at all, call a vet tomorrow and get there as soon as possible.
