Intermittent side kicking? (patella, vet, mixed, months)

Ben is eight months old, he's a mutt with Shiba and other things mixed in. He's super active and jumps a lot, so I think he may have some ligament thing going on but knowing zero about dog anatomy and how it relates to humans I thought I'd ask here. He isn't in pain and let me say if he were I'd know, he's a drama QUEEN, if he thinks it's going to hurt he's crying and looking for comfort! If Judy snaps at him he screams as if she tore off a body part, I've learned it is known as the 'Shiba scream' oh joy, so I'm certain he is not in pain.

Once in a while he'll kick his right back leg up and to the side, usually when he's kicking dirt but sometimes when he's walking. I noticed yesterday he's begun to do it with his left leg as well. I'm not concerned - yet - since he's not in pain but if it's something that is potentially serious I'll get him to the vet sooner than later. He's not due to see the vet for several months and I'll address it when he goes but if it's an indication of something that should be address sooner I'll take him now. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds similar to what my little girl would do. In her case she had very mild slipping patella. This was something that glucosomine/chondriotin pretty much completely eliminated for her. In her case the patella would lock and she would have to do the kicking motion to get it back in place.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Had no idea what it could be, he doesn't do it often so I hope that will help.
