Please let me know what you guys think... I have attached pictures of our new puppy, Khan. He is most definitely a boxer mix but we need to know what he is mixed with:
Irish marking gene (white paws, tail tip, and chest) along with the tail and ears leads me to think hound and boxer mix. Hound isn't real specific, but should help predict temprament, prey drive and energy level (good, high, and high).
Combo of boxer/hound - I would look for a lot of chewing as a puppy, high energy level, a nose focused dog, and one that is prety amiable with people.
He does look Boxer mix. I agree that the other part is some sort of hound because of the darker saddle. Beagle if he is a small dog and foxhound if he turns out to be a big dog.
Give us some more photos when he is full grown and we will take another guess.
He's adorable. There is no definitive way to know his breed mix. Is the problem a breed restriction where you live? He doesn't look particularly as if he has any pit bull to me. Of course lists of restricted breeds can be quite long. Is there some other reason you "must" know? Unless you're afraid that you will not be allowed to keep him due to laws or HOA rules, I would just enjoy the dog and not worry about it.
I wonder if I've ever really seen a pit mix, since the boxer look is so similar.
I have one very fuzzy old boy who was pitched to me as a terrier mix. When his fur grows out, virtually everyone says, "Oh, look at the little Chow!" He's a mutt. That's all my home insurance has to know.
Since Boxers are a pretty inbred breed, they are easy to pick up with DNA testing despite what some people say on this forum without any scientific research to back up their claims. DNA testing is a lot more accurate than people (including veterinarians) when it comes to identifying breeds. No one's eyes can pick up recessive genes, so that is a huge problem right there. When breed identification studies are conducted using veterinary professionals, there is a low agreement rate between them. yup, the length of tail , the length of legs
and facial looks makes me think it is a beagle /boxer mix.
On top of that there is a trend going around about
mixing a beagle with every other breed .
