Hello all, Hazel is a 3 year pittie mix. She weighs 44 lbs and is in good health.

She has this patch on her head: It doesn’t seem to bother her at all.

Can anyone help with a diagnosis?

OTC remedy?

Thanks so much in advance.

Looks like she's been rubbing or scratching it OR could be Hot Spot or Ringworm. You need to take her to the Vet!

I would have a vet look at it. Better to catch something while it's small before it could possibly grow into a larger issue.

It looks like a callus to me, but I don't know how a dog would get a callus on the back of her head.

You can have a vet look at it and take a scraping to see if it is a fungus or a bug so that you can use the correct medication on it.

I don't think it is going to turn out to be anything life threatening, so don't be worried about it, but get it taken care of in case it is something that will spread.

No one can give you an OTC remedy without knowing what it is and no one can diagnose it from a photo.

Does the dog repeatedly stick her head into a too-small opening? Little doggie door or under hole in fence?
