You did the right thing. It was a terrible accident waiting to happen for your YORKIE. They are not TOUGH BODIED with those legs. And surgery would be just as expensive with a long recuperation time.

Every dog I have rescued, which has been all of them and about 12 total, I have questioned my decision for the first month or two. Usually they had just been fixed so are still very hyper and spazzy and since they are in a new home where they aren't trained and don't know the rules, they can seem to be too much to handle. It really takes time and patience and consistent training and exercise. Just a routine for them in general of morning and evening walks followed by breakfast and dinner, or however you do it. Once they get used to the routine they will be more comfortable and you can take them to obedience training where you learn what works best for that particular dog. All of ours have turned out to be great but were all a handful initially!
