what works for a grass allergy wont work for a food allergy ect...
1: what food are you feeding....(switch to something with NO corn, NO soy, NO Wheet)
if your all ready feeding a food with none of those 3, try switching to a lamb, beef, fish or duck formular...sometimes the corn fed chicken can cause allergy issues....
2: is this a new symptom? have you changed washing detergent? fabric softner ect reacently?
3: fleas?
first thing id do is figure out whats causing the allergic reaction...
I know some vets will advise to use chlorotrimton, an older antihistamine. Maybe call the vet to see about dosage instructions. I believe for pets they recommend picking up the 4 mg tables and doing 4mg every 12 hours for average size dog but more like 2 mg for a small dog or decent sized cats. I'm not vet so get some advice from someone in the vet field.
If temaril p isn't working garlic powder won't work. Garlic can also be toxic to dogs.
Call the vet and tell them it's not working. They need to figure out if it's a food allergy or an environmental allergy.
He may need a shot if the allergies are really bad before the temaril p can work or the dosage may need to be increased. Temaril p is usually prescribed if antihistamines aren't strong enough.
Is he on flea control? Have you checked for fleas?
Go to a vet that specializes in allergies. I did, and it was worth every penny.
