We really have to be careful who we leave our pets with. And yes she should sue. She should press charges because this woman will try this again. The general public needs to know about people like this.

I would more than an apology because I would want to put the sitter out of business in the best interest of other dogs that might suffer the same fate. It is just horrible that someone would do that. This sitter has no right taking care of any pets because she obviously doesn't understand how important they are to the owners.

I haven't had my present dogs with any sitters or boarding. They go camping and vacationing with us. They are part of the family after all.

She's a lot more forgiving than I would be.

But the dog's home and chipped. Both good things.

Oh, you cannot believe how Peed off I would be and what I would do to this dog service company. They would be moving to Thailand after I confronted them.

Way more forgiving than I would be. They would be out of business if it were up to me!

They should press charges and sue, that way it will become public record and prevent it from happening again to another dog and family.

Exactly. A lot of people think lawsuits are all about money but in many cases it is to bring attention to a terrible wrongdoing and to protect future victims.

This is just beyond sick. If anyone did this to our dog, I'd probably be facing charges.

At least the dog and owner were finally reunited.

For me it wouldn't be about forgiveness; it would about be stopping this service from ever doing it again. Press charges? Absolutely!! To let it be swept under the rug is as much as saying, "I really don't care about what they do in the future...at least I got my dog back". Whenever something like this happens people need to take action to ensure that no other animal, or family, is hurt again.

She likely lost the dog and made up the story to try to avoid the truth. No way would I accept that my dog passed away in her sleep and they buried her. A vet's office can hold the body in the freezer.

Reminds me of that awful story where the dogs at a pet boarding facility in someone's back yard burned in a fire and the people in charge lied to the owners. It was a state senator's SIL who was in charge, iirc.

I don't travel as I wouldn't be comfortable leaving my dogs. The last time I went away for a week I ended up coming home after a couple of days because I missed my dogs. That was 7 or 8 yrs ago.
