I'm ready to start my own side business with hopes of it becoming my main income. I live in Alabama. Is there a way to do some sort of search maybe to see if there would be a demand for this in my area? I called my county's courthouse & the lady said I wouldn't need a license for what I'm wanting to do. I'm thinking about charging the following: $10 per dog per week but also offering regular service discounts. First & one time cleanings would be $30-$45 (which do you think is more reasonable?) I'll also be moving to New York around the first of the year so I'm wondering if pooper scooping is in demand in NY or if I would be better off starting a dog walking business here instead and if this would be easier to carry over to city life?

One problem is that I work full time at a dog rescue & my hours are usually from 7 am till anywhere from 3 to 6 pm. But perhaps I can work around that.

Charge per pound Just kidding.

I would suggest just a plain old Google search for the area in question. I just did a search for dog poop in the Pocatello area and came up with one....

Where do you dispose of the waste, it would seem to me that would be huge issue for a commercial business.

I would guess, the same way I do every week; in the garbage can. Dog poo is biodegradable.

That seems expensive tbh. My parents pay like $10-$20 every 2 or 3 weeks (can't remember) for clean up in the north shore area of Chicago and they have a large lawn. However, the same guy that cleans up the lawn also cuts, fertilizes the grass, and cleans up snow, so they might get a service discount of some sort.
