my german shepherd dog has a disease something like lupoid onychodystrophy
she was taking doxycycline and omega oils and a niacinamide and was doing fine. because of cost vet switched her to minocycline all fine for few days untill
few weeks ago she ate part roll of toilet paper. then she wouldn't eat for a few days her eukanuba dog food which never was a problem. but she would eat treats etc. and i believe all we would give her she would eat. the vet said after no food give her chicken and rice and she gobbled it down. well since then when we give her morning food eukanuba she just walks away and evening same thing unless once in a while will eat part of it. if we put gravy on it no problem. her stool is normal and everything else about her except eating. I feel shes holding out and will eat people food no problem. I am now holding out with anything but her dog food which for 11/2 days she hasn't touched

If there are no other symptoms, such as lethargy, poor stool, or other abnormal behaviour, just wait it out. The dog will eat when she's hungry.

I don't know anything about the condition you mentioned. I'm sure your vet has provided you symptoms to watch for for issues? Is food avoidance a concern with this condition?

My dogs often don't eat until I go to bed. They spend all day waiting for something better. When they don't get it, they eat their kibble. Sometimes one of my dogs just doesn't eat for a day or two, except for treats or people food. She's always been that way. If I start to notice her completely not eating kibble and begging for people food, I cut her off any extras until she goes back to eating her kibble. She can hold out for a few days, but she always goes back to it just fine.

Take her to the vet. She already has one disease and not wanting her kibble for 11+ days is not normal. If she was a completely healthy dog I would say wait it out BUT since there are complicating factors (her disease) and it's been 11+ days, in my opinion, a vet visit or at least a call to the vet to discuss her eating is in order.

I think they meant one and a half days. 1 1/2

I agree with RubyJune.....sounds like the dog is holding out for people food.

Yes, I interpreted it has 1.5 days. 11 days I would absolutely have said a vet!

Oh 1 1/2 days is completely different. In that case I agree, wait it out.

I agree too! With our 2 dogs, if they get people food or a good can of dog food, they wait until they are hungry before choosing to eat the dog food. Just like kids!

I'm not familiar with this condition but did find this blog/website that has great info...thought you might like to check it out.

As for the not eating...I have five dogs and they all love/live to eat so I have no good advice there either. Hang in there and I hope everything works out for your pup.
