I am very careful with her food intake, and she is trim and agile.

Will let you know what the vet says.

PS. The dogs are never alone together in the house when we aren't home. Each has a crate and all are crated when we leave. I work from home so I am here more than not., so I don't think a dog incident occurs.

What's the verdict?

She may be in pain - how are her teeth. That's a big issue for the breed as their teeth (or jawline) goes so far back. Agreed with advice for a vet check.

Maybe, Roxy needs to be checked out by a Vet, just in case to see if she has an issue, but it could be a change in the environment, schedule, or just her routine being interrupted. She could also be very sensitive and maybe someone inadvertently "insulted" her or made her feel bad unintentionally. Dogs have long memories.

I'm sorry it took so long to get back to all of you. My dad is ill and out of state - in his mid 80s and not doing very well.

Any way, I followed your advice and took Roxy to the vet. All tests came back normal!!!!

He used the same reference that one of you did in a message and said "It seems she's going through a Greta Garbo phase".

He also gave me a little insight on mini Dachshund's personalities. He said that while they are affectionate and loving - that it's usually on their terms. He advised me to give her a little space.

So I am following the good doctor's orders.

Roxy still "vants to be alone", ala Greta.

I'm going to bet it's seasonal. Summer weather just doesn't fit with socializing when you've got a permanent fur coat.
