Stella, our Boston of 7 months was doing so well, telling us when she wanted to go outside, is still doing well with peeing outside in the yard, but in the last couple of weeks has reverted to pooping in the house (hardwood floors), or on the wood deck instead of down in the yard. So frustrating! My husband has little patience for this and threatens to get rid of her. I will cry if that happens. What's going on and can anyone help?

You need to go back to basics and retrain her. Make sure that you're watching her closely for signs she needs to go out. You also need to be sure that you're taking her out on a regular and frequent basis even though she's not showing any signs that she needs to go out. You also need to get her on a consistent routine, that will help.

She also may not understand that the deck is off limits. Did you train her to know that the deck wasn't appropriate?

She's still a young puppy and your husband needs to be patient.

Good luck.

Well, pooping on the deck is easy to fix: walk with her down into the yard and praise when she eliminates.
Same for the house-training end of it: don't just open the back door and assume that she is going down to the yard to do her business. Walk down with her to the yard, play, spend time with her until she poops, praise, play some more and then take her back up to the house.
So yes, as Rowan said, go back to square one.

Excellent advice from both posters but I'm quoting twelvepaw for a specific part of his post and that is...walk your pup to the yard and stay with her until she does her business. Boston Terriers are smart and she'll get back on track.

I have three of them along with a French Bulldog and an old Lab mix. In fact, all are considered seniors now and I still go out with them...every single time. This works.
