Why can't people understand that dogs have feelings and loyalty and express heartbreak?

What a great dog!!! I wish that he were mine. I'd like to give his former owner a big kick in the head for abandoning him like that. At least take the dog to an animal shelter.

They were heartless pieces of crap. I can't stand how people don't realize how close these wonderful, creatures feel to us. They are a part of our family. Anyone who could walk away from a dog or cat should not be in charge of the future of these fellow mammals has an incomplete soul.
They do not deserve the dog.

And the letter called the 'owners' friends? That's the word that messed with me. They were never his friends. Only the dog was a friend.

And he had loved you. Wow.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...don't plan on adding a family member until you know you can afford to care for them. Same thing as you would do planning for a child.

People....THINK

So sad. Thank God for the internet and the rescue and adoption circuit that has blossomed as a result of better communication availabilities. What a sweet face he has.

This lady is so eloquent and hopefully her voice will reach people who might think of dumping their pets.

Even if they do read it, I doubt it will reach them.

The dog we adopted 3 years ago was left tied in the yard when the people moved away. She was almost lucky compared to the other cases where they are left to die in a rented house or apartment which was also happening in that area.

Heartbreaking. I have two rescue dogs. They are the most loving animals in the world.

Too bad they did not call them what I would call them, in a letter or in person. And I cannot say what I would call them on this site since it would be cut.

People like this need to be taken out to the middle of the Rockies, 50 or more miles from any city, and left on the side of the road. Let them see how it feels!

The sad thing about dogs, they love their owners even if they get neglected, physically abused or starved. Most dogs just keep taking it and still love their owners.

Imagine, if his owners can just dump a beautiful dog like that, imagine what conditions he had to endure.

It could have ended terribly for him, but thank God it didn't, and they probably did that dog a favor abandoning him. I hope they found a WONDERFUL, kind home for him now with owners who love him to bits.
