All my life I admired and wanted a black and rust Doberman. We couldn't afford one for lack of time and space and therefore we had smaller breeds, an Irish terrier, German Pinscher, Manchester terrier and now our current Airedale. They were all wonderful dogs but none of them was able to step up to the level of experience which I had with Dobermans - with other people's dogs I've met in my life.
Now I'm 73 and even the 60 lbs Airedale is a bit too much sometimes. I resigned to the fact that I won't have a Dobe pup in our life.
Nevertheless, there is a channel on YouTube called "Doberman Planet." It is owned and produced by a gentleman named John Walter. He lives in California, north of San Francisco. The man is an amazing communicator and talented photographer. The videos, well, they deserve to be called documentaries, are between 7-12 minutes long, and they address different subjects, like the difference between male and female dogs, training tips, and so forth.
Even though I'll never be the owner of a Doberman, I still learn new things from him, and most of the advice applies to other breeds as well, and also to newbies or experienced dog owners alike.
The current dog he has is named Arlo. John has documented the arrival of the pup, his training, and growing up experiences. If you like dogs, any breed, I highly recommend watching this channel. Please beware, it is addictive.
