(CNN) -- Runners in Alabama may have bitten off more competition than they anticipated in a race earlier this month.
A dog finished in the top ten in the Elkmont Half Marathon -- The Trackless Train Trek on January 16 and has become quite the Internet sensation.
Ludivine, a bloodhound, lives nearby and after her owners let her out to relieve herself, she decided to join the race and ended up running the entire 13.1 miles.
She competed without human or leash. "Her owner doesn't even run! That's what makes the story even better," race director Gretta Armstrong told CNN.
I have trouble Believing this! What dog cant out run humans? I can see him running next to the winner since he wouldn't know where to go BUT 7th place... Nope No Way!
I saw this on the morning news.
They showed film of him running with the joggers.
The dog just wanted to run amongst people, not outrun them. They even gave him his medal for 7th place.

There are breeds of dogs that can run and run and run so I have no problem believing this. Look at all the miles hounds use to run when they were out hunting or all the miles sledding dogs go or even your cattle dogs when they are working and moving herds of cattle to Market or to other pastures during the days when there were big cattle drives. I think they have much better endurance then most humans. The dog was probably running at what was a comfortable pace for him and having a blast being among all those people
This is adorable. My husband's bloodhound used to run with them in Colorado when they'd go backcountry skiing and dirt biking. He said Baer would run upwards of 20-30 miles some days. They have crazy stamina.
Oh heck yeah! I usually walk at least 10 miles a day when I'm bird hunting and my GSP's easily cover 3x that much or more and normally at a very quick pace!
That has been all over the Nashville news, the Today show, and Inside Edition.
Somewhere in all those segments the comment was made the dog's owner doesn't run so she had no idea why the dog decided to join in.
I love that he got a ribbon
