Sad. Bet was a neighbor with a grudge or a neighbor kid thinking oh this is cool. No matter what hope they catch em and go as far as law will allow which is not enough.

OMG, how horrible. I just can't understand hurting an innocent creature like that. Some people are so cruel.

When we lived in Fla 15 years ago our neighbors were visiting friends in a rural area (think it was in Destin) with their dog. The dog was a huge gorgeous rescue. He was missing for several hours...turned up tied to a tree somewhere and shot in the face. Fortunately he survived and the family had the $$ to take care of his recovery.
They were told by local law enforcement that this was a rural area and people could do what they like with their animals (or other people's animals???). Outrageous.
Since I've been in Utah, it seems like I have heard alot of animal cruelty cases on the news. Sad.

Here in Wisconsin illegal to shoot own dog. If dogs running deer even cannot shoot as a Game warden or law enforcement personel only people that can not that happens that way.

In some areas, it is legal to shoot an unleashed dog who is a threat to livestock.
Utah, despite having Best Friends as the largest employer in southern Utah (or at least Kane County), has some of the loosest animal cruelty laws in the country. I think it's because the livestock people don't want animal cruelty laws to get mixed into their livestock business (whether or not they are exerting cruelty. There are those who believe that any livestock "farming" and slaughter is inherently cruel).
For those people who simply act cruelly for the sheer sick enjoyment of it, I hope there is a hell, so they can spend eternity contemplating their own inner ugliness.

Quite a few years ago had a guy shoot a bear dog running through cattle pasture after a bear farmer shot it and he had to pay for dog.
Some kids get off on killing pets and these are the ones when get older will start on people also as get bored with pets.
I shoot deer and such but do for meat not just to kill.
Killing just to kill is cruel and yes hope they rot in hell.

I am a dog lover always have been. Love a good lab.
Peoples pets getting shot? Perhaps if they had controled their animal, been good responsible owners this would happen a lot less often. First level of ownership for a dog shot while loose is on the owner. If you care about your dog keep it under control. In this world we have scum killing babies, what makes anyone think that the family pet is anymore safe than a baby? I detest people who are cruel to animals but I also detest bad owners.
If a strange dog came in my yard and acted agressively towards my family I would infact shoot that dog rather than risk it attacking me or mine.
