We used to.
She was some sort of mix, but looked a lot like that type of dog. She was very smart and hard to keep contained. She pretty much got out of every fence, gate, crate we put her in. She was lovable on her terms - she had to want to be pet, etc... otherwise she was a bit standoffish. Last, she was alpha. We had a large breed male dog and she ruled his world. He was very protective of her. Sadly, she was hit by a car after escaping from our fenced yard.

It makes me wonder if there is a breed standard for Carolina dog breed. I had one who would slip out the door if anyone wasn't diligent when leaving the house. You could not get your hands on him unless he wanted you to. He lived to be 8 years old but got hit by a car. He wasn't aggressive at all but his bark sounded like a lion roaring. I would have been afraid of him if I didn't know him. He was aloof yet gentle.

Wouldn't they have heat cycles like other dogs if a female is spayed they don't, if they did have one then they are obviously not spayed. Dogs are only pregnant for a couple months. The story sounds weird.

The AKC accepted them into their Foundation Stock Service (FSS) Program in 2017.
