My 13 yr old rat terrier mix has a perineal hernia. He's had this surgery before and while it lasted a!few yrs he now has the same problem again. He needs surgery which we can't afford. Has anyone else dealt with this with their dogs and what was your solution. I love this little guy with all my heart. If this gets worse over time how do I say good bye. I can't stop crying now. He's pretty healthy for his age. One vet is concerned that since it failed one time before how will this second time go. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.
Have you looked into a care credit card? If you can afford to may payments it might be the way to go. Could you work off the surgery at the vet's office by cleaning kennels or something?
If not, I'd start checking rescues to see if they can help. Many rescues have some sort of program where they help people pay vet bills. You could start with your local animal control and see if they have any suggestions or a local terrier rescue if there is one.
You could also set up a gofundme account and see if you can raise the money that way.
