Absolutely heartbroken. It all happened in the span of a day. I took him in for a simple skin issue yesterday morning and he ended up in the emergency room with breathing problems by lunch time. I left him overnight where they kept him in an oxygen tank and this morning, I had to make that excruciating decision.

I adopted my boy almost 6 years ago. He would have been 11 in January. He was really a very special dog for me but he hated everyone else. He wouldn't have done well in many households but I did everything I could to make him feel loved. The vet would laugh because he was such a grump and it showed so clearly on his face.

At home, he would lie on the bed next to me and lie his huge head on my shoulder. He didn't like hugs or cuddles. He would show me affection by lying right up against me but he would object if I tried to snuggle him. I didn't care. I did it anyway. He would eventually start making these little noises that sounded like purring.

I just fed my other bullie babies and saw his medicine on the counter. It set me off again. I miss him so much. This is so painful.

I'm so sorry...what a beautiful boy he was. Grumpy or not, it's clear you loved him and gave him a wonderful life.

I like to think flights of angels carried him to his rest. (((hugs))) to you.

Just realize that you stepped up to the plate to give him a good home and love when he needed it most, and he thanked you by loving only you. It takes a special person to choose to adopt an adult dog just because he needs a forever home. You did well and he appreciated it I'm sure.

I love that picture- such a face, and such wisdom in his eyes.

What a sweet face! I'm so sorry. I can tell that your boy was deeply loved.

Those of us who love our dogs so deeply, know the agony of losing them. We had to put our sweet little baby down in June and I miss her terribly.

HUGE (((HUGS)))
