Gingerlead seems to get the most good reviews. I've tried homemade slings from grocery bags and they slide up into his crotch and he does not like that. It seems they would work better with slots for the legs-has anyone tried that? There are some that go around the rear legs available commercially but look way to strappy and complicated. If it doesnt go off and on quickly, and/or can't be left on comfortably, its no good for me.

I'm afraid my old boy may never walk again if I don't find something within 48 hours. He cant get up or stay up on his own anymore. Thinking of expressing the Gingerlead to me overnight and trying slots in the grocery bag until then. Last ditch effort.

In case you aren't familiar with the grocery method:

I've used them when my corgi was recovering from back surgery. They do work if the dog needs to get around. I got mine from the vet.

If your dog is elderly and there is something like degenerative myelopathy (DM) going in a sling isn't going to help and it will only get worse.

What does your vet say? Is the dog in pain?

My dog had a wheelchair but you can't leave a dog in a wheelchair except when you are with them. For the times when I needed to take the dog out to do her business, I made a sling under her belly with a towel. She could get up if I supported her rear end.
