I want a new dog, and I saw one that I love, he/she had something similar to dreads. Is this type of dog easily groomed?

Komondor. I would suspect shampooing to clean would be tough and drying would take forever. Difficult if you got in a patch with weed seeds to stick in that coat. But i have no actual knowledge.

Potential skin problems?

JD10.

The Komodor 's coat grows that way naturally. It was bred to be a hunting dog, that can also herd cattle.

It is a tough dog to take care of, firstly because of it's coat, and secondarily because of it's need for vigorous exercise daily ( at least a hour of running and chasing a target such as a ball ) to simulate their original purpose of herding.

Unless you are willing to take time every day to exercise the dog...find another less active breed.

Buying a dog based on " looks " alone . is a bad idea.

There are many breeds that have dreadlocks. The dreads are difficult to take care of. The coat and skin must be kept clean and bathing and drying is a very long process. The dreads have to be cut and shaped (split to make them even)

Komondor, Puli, Bergamasco, Havanese, and several smaller herding breeds.

Poodles can be kept in a corded coat as can the assorted water dogs (Spanish Water Dog, Portuguese Water Dog, Lagotto Romagnolo) and the water spaniels.

Either way they sound pretty labor intensive

By the way, some of those corded breeds are wonderful family dogs and pets. They can be kept clipped instead of corded, although that is still a pretty intensive grooming requirement.

All of them have been bred to be intelligent and to work closely with humans. Maybe with the exception of the Komondor, who is much more independent.

Nobody is talking you out of it they are just being realistic. These breeds are not low maintenance when it comes to grooming. If you like these breeds and are willing to deal with the upkeep on their coat, by either paying a groomer or doing it yourself, then go for it.

A corded coat is more, not less, work than a regular coat. Sorry.

Yep. There's a huge difference between a matted, tangled coat and a corded one! When I see a person with MATS (you know, those fuzzy halfway wannabe dreads) my impression is lazy.
