I was sitting at my computer and became aware that it was time for a trip to the toilet. But I decided to finish what I was working on first.

Pensive came into my office and began fussing. Her typical "need something" fuss. So I got up and she promptly trotted straight to my bathroom and sat in front of my toilet.

OK, Sweetie, thanks, but I can still tell when I need a trip to the bathroom. Maybe in a couple more decades, your service will be useful.

Does that qualify as a medical alert dog when she tells you that you need to pee?

For awhile I have been suspecting that Pensive has taken over the job of letting me know when Wyatt needs to go out.

Wyatt has never lived where he had to ask to go out. He was an outdoor only dog when he joined my family and ever since then, until this house, he has had a dog door into a safe yard to let himself out. He doesn't ever ask to go out; he simply waits until someone else is going out.

Several times, Pensive has asked to go out and then she doesn't potty, but Wyatt does.

I've been wondering. I know she pees several times a day when she doesn't need to because she loves to go outside and won't go outside without me. It's her excuse to get outside. Maybe she has figured out how to get Wyatt to be her excuse to go outside.

They are so attuned to us. It’s 4 in the afternoon and my high energy guys know that I desperately need a nap after shopping. We are all curled up on the couch in a pile.

Oregonwoodsmoke, Your post made me laugh after a stressful night at work, a pee alert dog just what everyone over a certain age needs.

I agree with Dash

I can only think that you trained her for this as in When you go potty you put her outside to potty. You then bring her in for a Treat! I did that to Joey esp when we 1st got her.

When Cleo was alive, Kali would wake me up every morning between 4.30 and 5.00 a.m to let them out. Now that Cleo has sadly departed this life I get to lie in until around 7.00. I know that Kali was alerting me to the fact that Cleo needed to pee .
Smart dog!

Some nights when hubby has already gone to bed and I am at home and sitting at my computer late at night, my little one comes and tells me it's bedtime.

She looks up at me with pleading eyes, and just about scratches the skin off my knee.
