My friend's dog had ongoing itchy ears and paws. Poor dog would constantly lick paws and scratch at ears. Numerous Vet trips didn't solve problem. Vet suggested eliminating commercial kibble and start cooking for dog.
Voila! All itchiness soon gone. Red paws and ears back to normal.
Dog was allergic to something in the kibble formula.
My dog has this problem. Vet suggested high priced food from the Animal Hospital but hearing that home cooked food is good for them is something new to me. Sounds good.
It's my friend's dog...she's cooking inexpensive beef cuts, brown rice, broth and carrots and peas or sometimes green beans, sometimes adds an egg or two...google home-cooked dog food and you'll find numerous recipes using poultry and other animal proteins..never pork, though..
No matter how good the kibble is, it’s still dead food. I keep my dogs on kibble, but solve the problem by adding fresh mix in’s to their food. My new puppy especially gets cooked meats, eggs, rice, yogurt, veggies along with his kibble. I never only feed one brand, if you couldn’t buy it, your dog would be set up for digestion problems. It’s good to mix up their diet, and this is working out great for the pup. His fur feels incredible.

We feed raw and cooked, just not at the same time. Lots of great info out there.. google and YouTube.. you have to make sure what you’re feeding is balanced.
If you are planning to cook for your dog make sure the diet is balanced. A couple of great sources of recipes are Dr. Judy Morgan and Dr. Karen Becker who have recipe books. Dr. Morgan's puploaf is easily found online.
Years ago I used to cook for my dog but switched to pre-made raw. Currently I rotate between Small Batch, all provide and previously Answers, switching to Kure (new company by the founders of Answers).
