I hope this is OK to post here. My dog Elsie has very extreme allergies. My experiences in treating her allergies inspired me to write an ebook all about dog allergy symptoms, causes & treatments. I should be finished very soon. Although I share a lot of my experiences with Elsie’s allergies, what the book really needs are real life stories from other dog owners.

Both of my dogs have allergies. My labrador's symptom was constant paw licking. My beagle basset's symptom was endless scratching---couldn't get comfortable.
Both were resolved mostly with a change of diet---a better grade of dog food with ingredients they weren't likely to have eaten in the past.
But the beagle basset also has seasonal allergies in the fall. Ragweed is his kryptonite. Benedryl helps with this. He is also alergic to fleas. The only thing that helps with that is a steroid treatment. Fortunately, we can avoid needing steroids by keeping up with the monthly flea medication during flea season.
Our allergy experience is quite boring because it was fairly easy for us to resolve.
Allergy to milkbones of all things. We couldn't figure out why she was constantly scratching. It was at the point she was starting to hurt herself. We tried switching her food, watching when she was outside to see if she had came in contact with some sort of bug/plant that she didn't like, I even switched the detergent I used to wash her bedding. One day, we ran out of treats, and I forgot to get some when I was at walmart. So instead of going back just for that, I swung into a pet store that was on the way home and bought a different brand of treats. Two days later I noticed I hadn't seen her scratch. I kept an eye on her for a few more days, and nothing. I stopped buying milkbones all together, and Sadie hasn't had a problem since.
