I just read the thread on ticks. I hate ticks!!! I see a lot of your use Frontline Plus. This is what we have been using, but it seems Zoe just cannot tolerate it. When I put it on, she runs into the yard and rolls on her back for 10-20 minutes, whining the whole time. Its like its burning her skin or something And tonight, I wanted to put her July dose on her, but as soon as she saw the packet, she took off - almost ripping my thumb off (it was around her collar). In the height of flea and tick season, so I really want to get it on her, but not if I am hurting her.
I tried to tell her to bucker up and not be a big baby, but alas, hubby isn't home tonight and she only listens to me about 75% of the time. She is such a daddy's girl LOL

If you believe your dog is having an adverse reaction to the Frontline, (and it sounds as if she is) then you shouldn't apply it on her. Call your vet and tell him about her reaction. There are other options.
Also, counterfeit Frontline has been marketed in the past, so if you didn't get yours from a vet, it may be worth checking to see if it's the real thing. EPA: Pesticides - Counterfeit Pesticide Products for Dogs and Cats.

some animals have reactions to certain meds!
switch it or get a allergy test. Some dogs don't like things on them as well.

The vet said its not a "real reaction" unless it leaves red welts, blisters, etc and they are still there a day later. So her reaction isn't that bad, just doesn't like it. Maybe its no different that giving a kid medicine that tastes bad. But at least the kid tells you why its so bad. *sigh*

Promeris
We noticed the day we applied Promeris, our puppy would be lethargic all day. The vet is now trying another application.

I guess I gauge things a bit differently than your vet. If my doctor prescribed an ointment for my young child and every time I put it on the child, the kid fell to the floor, writhed around and cried for 20 minutes, I'd call that a reaction, even if there were no welts or blisters. Perhaps the dog would have that reaction to other flea preventive products, but you won't know until you try. You trust Zoe enough to believe the Frontline bothers her, so perhaps you could suggest to your vet that he prescribe another type of flea product and see if she reacts the same way.

When I used Frontline the hair would fall out at the application site within 24 hours. My animals reacted the same way yours does. Now I use Revolution and I do not have to chase my dog around the house to put it on and my cat has hair on her neck.

Triple Sure
Frontline is a poison.....but there is no other choice....for the past two years I only put it on my dogs every three months and it still keeps the fleas away....I also buy the lower weight versus the one for their weight! I got something on the internet called Triple Sure. When I got it it was buy one get one. If your dog is infested with fleas it will not work....but maintenance I think it does. It is an all natural product. NO CHEMICALS! I am also hoping the smell of it will keep the mosquitos away! Just type in a search for Triple Sure, it will take you to the website!

You can find out if it's a real reaction or if she's just the kind of dog who freaks out at anything being put on her skin, by putting something non-harmful in the same location and see how she reacts. You can use something mild like vaseline (if it's not your carpets she's going to roll on, LOL) or maybe something else that's more of the consistency of Frontline than vaseline. If she still rolls and whines, it's probably not a reaction. If she doesn't, I would think it is the Frontline irritating her and would stop using it.

A foolproof solution would be to move to Alaska. There are no fleas, tics, or heart worms in Alaska, unless you bring them with you. It is a doggy paradise.
