Off topic but...Disney has a movie coming out called Beverly Hills Chihuahua...the trailer for this film is hysterical! I do not know the exact site but if you like Chi's, you've gotta see the singing, dancing Chihuahuas! "Ey, Chihuahua!!!"

I owned a chihuahua for three years. He was attacked and killed by three golden retrievers. We had a pit and a JRT at the time he died. The pit never did anything but snuggle with him.

I loved my chihuahua. He was truly one of the best dogs that I ever owned in my life. They are very needy little boogers and seem to be a one person dog. But to have one is to truly love one.

I lucked up on getting mine. The breeder was in bad health and sold him to me at a fair price of $150 at the time that I purchased him.

Have you considered adoption?

However, my family isn't really monetary affluent, since our new house was quite pricey. My mother's friend said she would give us one free but her dog is sick and it wouldn't be safe to breed it right now.

Does anyone know where I can get a cheap or moderatably priced chihuahua puppy in SC/NC?

I don't have $600 and I'm too young to get a job yet. Any ideas? I read to puppies in the pound are from puppy mills, so I'm not sure if I should adopt one.

Please help.

Only get a pet if you can afford the vet expenses and be prepared to take out pet insurance, because with pets anything can happen at any time. Your mums friend has no business breeding a dog willy nilly so tell her to get her doggie spayed. Other than that I can't say anything the others have said.

By the way how old was Einstien and how did he die?

I would say that you should adopt from a shelter. I think that toy breeds, particularly chihuahuas, are subject to a lot of poor breeding practices and a chihuahua mix from a shelter will probably be a more vigorous dog and free of charge.

I have 2 chihuahuas, they are great dogs, very playful and very loyal. They cna be a handful sometimes, but I love them none the less. If you are looking for an inexpesive one, you can find them on craigs list craigslist classifieds: jobs, housing, personals, for sale, services, community, events, forums sometimes, either free or very cheap. Usually 2 years and older tho, not puppies.

Aw! I would love to get a chihuahua, but I don't have the time to keep up with her with my hectic work schedule. Why don't you want it anymore?

My dd wants to see this movie. It looks cute, but unfortunately it will cause many to purchase a Chihuahua on impulse just like the Dalmatian craze w/ 101 & 102 Dalmatians only to end up in shelters.

We have the same fear...chihuahuas are VERY high-maintenance dogs, despite their small size (my boyfriend & i have 6 between the 2 of us...3 at my house, 3 at his, which luckily is only 3 houses away!!!) We are both full-time artists and work from our homes, which is why it works for us to care for so many, but believe me it gets VERY expensive. They all eat high-quality kibble, and are all on holistic supplemens to ensure their health is being addressed every day, add the cost of vaccinations, flea/tick & heartworm prevention, & we're talking serious bux here...but that's what responsible pet ownership is about. People who skip out on preventative measures for their pets may get lucky, but more often health issues develop and by the time they surface it's too late to treat.

Please do plenty of research to make sure this is the dog for you!!! If you don't have time or $ to nurture a dog, it will absolutely break your heart if it gets sick...no matter what breed it is. If you're too young to get a job, I think it's a bad idea to committ yourself to an animal yet, unless mom is in a position to take the responsibility...!
