Has anyone ever tried "Soft Paws" on their dogs? (labrador, retrievers)

I'm looking to rent a town house that has hardwood floors on one of the levels and the owner is skeptical about us having 2 Labrador Retrievers. I've heard good things and bad things about pets and hardwood floors. Then I saw an ad for Soft Paws Dog Scratching Solutions, Nail Caps for Dogs. They are nail caps to put over their nails.

Has anyone used them on their dogs before? If so did they work?

We adopted a cat that was wearing them at the time of his adoption. They worked well as far as he didn't do any scratching damage while he had them. He didn't try to chew them off either. We let them grow out and off and never put new ones on because our home is pretty much cat friendly.

They are like rubber covers that are glued on. They have to be replaced when the animal's nails grow out.

I would guess it would be MUCH easier to put them on a dog rather than a cat!

I haven't personally used them, but my vet was telling me she uses them on her dog and cat. Apparently you glue them on like press on nails, and they are not uncomfortable for your pet. They last for 3-5 weeks, from what she told me. Hope this helps.

I've used them on my cat and it helped as the other poster said with scratching.

With large dogs like retrieves, it's understandable that they worry about hardwood floors. Dogs nails WILL damage hardwood floors, so I'd be sure to keep them trimmed, and if you are diligent with the soft paws you are probably pretty good.

May want to put down a few throw rugs and runners though.........
