Those tiny dogs are much more fragile than a large dog. As everyone has said, get it to the vet, it is not worth waiting and possible losing your dog.

my almost 2yrs chihuahua woke me up at 3 am with yelping and seemed tender to the touch in the belly to chest area!
she hasnt eaten yet today....also no poop!
my vet said 2 wait until a bowl movement! and look 4 blood in there!
now she seems to b less tender but still tender!
shes a little shaky and her nose is wet but a little warm!
can it b shes constipated or maybe a bruised rib maybe a pulled muscle?
i tend 2 overreact when it comes 2 my babies!
any advise would b awesome..........dennis

Get her to ANOTHER vet right now - she could have eaten something that has lodged in her gut. It's serious stuff, your dog could die if you don't get there immediately. GO.

a constipated animal will feel constipated, the belly with feel hard/doughy and look "full" and mabe even a little bloted. she would still be trying to poop but unable fo pass so youd notice visual straining...
tender tummy and not even trying to poop is time for a vet to chec her over to make sure shes not 1: eaten something she shouldnt, 2: got a belly full of parisits, 3: got something else going on.

if the vet you called can simply say "wait till she poops" its time to call a different vet.

the other risk here is chihuahuas tend to go hypglycemic VERY quickly, if shes not eating that alone cna be angerous no matter WHY shes not eating/pooping.

i have a chihuahua and i have taken her to the vet 3 times in 4 days. She has eye infection and the vet gave her meds and now she is just laying around. She will not walk. she scooter her little body across the floor to use the bathroom. She whines a lot as if in pain and she will not drink any water. She has been tested for parvo and it was neg. thank goodness but the vets just cannot seem to figure out what is wrong. The vet today took some blood so hopefully the results will come back tomorrow to I can know what is going on with her. My baby is only 4 months old.
