Hi I have a 12 year old wheaten who has had what we call "shaky legs" for about a year...her back legs/thighs? shake or tremble constantly. My vet gave me joint pills, but now it appears to have moved into her front leg. She also has numerous cysts....my vet seems to say its normal and Maggie doesnt seem in pain.....but I was wonderning if anyone has any ideas. I have a had a couple people tell me its just "going to get worse....put her down"....but shes my baby and Im not ready for that....unless its in her best interest. Any thoughts??

There all ALL sorts of things that could lead to this - skeletal or muscular or nervous system issues or a neurological problem. What, specifically, has the dog been tested for, if anything?
Yeah.......I think they thought they were being sympathetic for the dog......they also had a wheaten that developed cancer so they dont want to see Maggie suffer

Thats what concerns me....no tests done.........so I think its time for a new vet
thanks for the input...I am going to call my current vet tabout my concern for the front leg....then if they stilll insist its "joints"....off to a new vet. I think Im actually a bit "afraid" to find out...shes such a good girl and has been with me for some rought times......but I alos dont want her to suffer or be able to enjoy things she likes.....she already lays around the house alot....get REALLY nervous during storms...and now even any sporting event she hears on tv.
A new vet is definitely in order!!! Some doctors do absolutely everything they can to help an animal, and others are so de-sensitized to losing patients they dismiss fixable issues if they think it is going to be too stressful on the owner and suggest putting them down. Granted, many owners do not have the strength & stamina to put 100% into healing their pets, but those of us who do (and I can see you are in this group!) want a vet who is as dedicated to our animals as we are. I work with vets like this, and you would not believe the miracles they are capable of with a good combination of skill, knowledge, determination, and of course a genuine love for animals and healing. They are out there...you just have to find them! I wish you and your baby the best of luck!!!
