Eyewrist -

I have two senior dogs, both ten. One has hip joint problems (dysplasia) and the other has arthritis in his leg. The best thing for your dog is to get a book on health and diet. As your pet gets older, she will have more problems.

There are basically two ways you can go with at home treatment - herbal remedies or vitamins and supplements. I chose the vitamins and supplements because herbs can have adverse effects on your dogs health if you are not careful.

What I have found that works for joint problems - vitamin c, glucosamine, and omega3 omega6 fatty acids. I give my dogs some flax seed oil which has a good amount of omega3 omega6. For the Vitamin C and glucosamine, I just mix that in with their food. I give them amounts that are appropiate for their size. Its easier to do this if you have a book that gives you appropiate measurements.

The book I use was written by Dr. Pitcairns. You can buy it on Amazon. Hope this helps!
