Tonight my son and our lab were playing and my son jumped up the same time the dog did for the toy and hit heads/face. Child had bloody nose and bump on head. Dog started acting weird. She walked into the kitchen right after it happened and was standing on her back legs with her head down and front legs toward the ground like she couldnt pick them up. She was making this weird movements I guess trying to stand straight? We got her on the ground and started petting her and got her a pillow. She was real still and breathing but we were freaking out! We laid there a minute petting her and saying her name. After a few minutes she became alert again, we made her rest a minute then she got up and she seems fine now. Do you think she just got knocked out?
Concussion. But from the sounds of it, not a very serious one. Still, a visit to the vet and some x-rays would be a good idea, just to be on the safe side. I have seen worse concussions (kick from a horse to the face--left a permanent dent in the GSD's forehead) from which the dog rebounded and was fine for the rest of her life, so I would not freak with worry. But the vet is a good idea.
Sounds like a concussion to me too. A quick neuro exam by the vet wouldn't be a bad idea.
