My rescue Lab, Thor gave blood today to save a dog's life after being bitten by a venomous snake. They had to take blood from his jugular and he wagged his tail throughout the process.
He's a beaut.
Nice of you and he to do that. I didn't even know that was done.
My boy/weinerdog was bitten by a pigmy rattlesnake about 3 yrs. ago, right on the bridge of his nose. Ihad to take him to an off hours emergency vet. They did a p&ss-poor job. And blood was definately not offered.
I took him home with anti-biotics and pain pills he spit out. His head and throat swelled to a round little watermelon. He didn't eat, drink or move, piddle, nothing for 3 days. It was touch and go.
I wouldn't want any animal to go thru what he did, so I'm glad other places/vets inform their patients of this service.
Thanks for letting us all know.
What a good boy, Thor!! And he's and adorable looker, too!
