My 10 month old lab is soo sick. It has me so stressed out. It started out Saturday with him having some allergic reation his face and body had bumps all over his eyers where swollen and red. I of course went to the vet office immediatly and he was given a shot which calm the reaction all day on Sunday he was throwing up his food without it even being digested. He has been using the bathroom but not very easliy. On Monday he seemed all better he was eating his food jumping around took him for his usual walk... Then when i get home yesterday he was wimpering and was having trouble breathing we immediatly when back to the vet his temperature is normal, blood test where normal they even took x-ray and that came back normal... the docotor gave him some thing to drink and we need to bring him back today for more tests. This morning he seemed a little better not wimpering and breathing normally but again he was fine on Monday to... So of course in a little bit we're going to take him back to the vet to make sure he's better and hopefully find out what is/was wrong with him... Needed to vent a little I'm praying that is it something that has passed and he is all better now!!! it is so hard to see him suffering the way he was last night...
hope you are right and that whatever it was has passed......
please do let us know what the vet says today..... would be nice to have an idea of what caused all the distress so that it can be avoided in the future.........
Wow! I would be stressed too. Here's hoping the vet can find some definitive ans. for you. Please, do keep us posted and sending healing thoughts for both you and your little guy!

So distressing when you don't know what's wrong. I feel for all of you! Hope it's on the way to being over, maybe just an allergic reaction that hit his stomach too.....

I had something very similar happen to my Golden about a month ago. I got up with the baby at about 4:00 AM (teething sucks) and the dog wanted out. I obliged. I got the baby squared away, returned to the dog to let him in but he wasn't interested. "Fine then. See if I care."
When I got up for work the dog's face was extremely swollen. He could barely open his eyes. He seemed to be breathing without labor and was acting perfectly happy so I dosed him with Benadryl and he improved almost immediately, was back to normal within two hours. Case closed, I thought he had caught a wasp or something like that.
We went hunting the next day (Friday) and did not return until Sunday. No problems. After the trip I let him out in the backyard while I unloaded and stowed the gear. With that done, I went outside to bathe the dog before bringing him in for the evening. He was hiving up over his entire body. His legs, belly, neck, head, ears, snout and lips were covered in rapidly swelling bumps and his eyes were swelling shut. I quickly sprayed him off and brought him inside to administer Benadryl, but he wouldn't accept the pills encased in butter. That scared me. This dog values butter over all things in life. He didn't want to move and I could hear him starting to wheeze. He was deteriorating alarmingly quickly and it drastically exceeded my comfort threshold. I carried him to the car and put him in the passenger's seat. He immediately lay down with his head across the center console - not feeling too hot and breathing strangely. Really gulping air in and letting it out deliberately. I was very concerned that this would be the last evening with my dog.
There is a 24 hour animal hospital very close to my house. I called to alert them to my imminent arrival and they met me at the door. I had to carry him in and they took some information. I told the doctor that diphenhydramine had been effective 2 nights prior. She administered 2 cc's via intramuscular injection and told me to have a seat in the waiting room. I did a lot of hand-wringing for about 45 minutes before I heard a door open and a familiar clattering and panting. The doctor was being pulled off her feet by a much better looking and sounding golden retriever. She said "Is this more like it?"
"Yeah, thats more like it."

It turns out that the dog had been rolling in a patch of Dallis Grass that I treated with RoundUp. I think the second reaction was stronger because he ate some of the grass (or his body may have just tuned in to the herbicide as a problem). Is it possible that your pup is reacting to something like that?

I'm not sure the only two thing he was doing before this all started on Saturday was playing/eating peanut butter in his Kong (which he has done before) and also a toy tire which he destroyed but that not unsually for him. I dont know if it was either of those things or something bit him... the vet is saying it could have been anything. No way to really know for sure!
I will keep you posted thanks everyone!
I hope you lab is going to be all right. Best of hope!
